GENERATION X
Being born between 1965 and 1980, Generation X came to age in an era of great movies, television shows and music. We have also seen numerous financial crises in our adult lifetimes. Starting during our early careers, we faced the Technology stock bubble and subsequent crash in the late 90's and early 2000's. Who can forget those old E-trade commercials!? Not long after, we experienced the real estate bubble and subsequent bust culminating in one of the worst recessions the country has ever seen. After a decade of artificially low interest rates and further stock market volatility, it is easy to become disoriented and frustrated when thinking about how you will be able to accumulate and preserve enough savings in order to live a comfortable retirement.

Here at Cypress Stone Capital, we understand your concerns and challenges. Markets have changed quite a bit over the past 2 decades which means Advisors also have to change. Most of them have not changed and continue to sell products that will earn them commissions and recurring fees (you can learn more about how fees are charged throughout the industry in our article, The Anatomy of Fees and Commissions). Understanding the dynamic money flows involved in market pricing as well as the big economic picture are critical in order to successfully grow and protect your hard-earned capital. It is also very important to properly manage risk so you do not incur large drawdowns and losses than can take many years to recover.
